AMA Coalition June 14th 6pm Forum on COCL Outcomes Report

The following is information about a public forum organized by the Albina Ministerial Alliance Coalition for Justice and Police Reform. The COCL-COAB office sends this announcement on behalf of the AMA Coalition. For more information, contact Chair Dr. LeRoy Haynes, Jr., or co-chair Dr. T. Allen Bethel at 503-288-7242.

The AMA Coalition for Justice and Police Reform will host a forum on the Outcomes Report from the Compliance Officer/Community Liaison (COCL) examining results of changes made to the Portland Police. The forum will be held Wednesday, June 14 at Maranatha Church, 4222 NE 12th at 6 PM. The changes, and the report, are part of the Settlement Agreement between the US Department of Justice and the City of Portland following a finding of a pattern and practice of excessive force by Portland Police. The forum will include presentations from members of the COCL team and members of the AMA Coalition, then feedback and questions from the community.

The Outcomes report is separate from the Compliance report, which was released in April and subject of a forum that month. The new report looks at whether the changes being made to Portland Police policy, training and oversight are making a measurable difference.

As with the April event, the AMA Coalition is holding this forum to continue its commitment to community engagement regarding the Settlement Agreement and police reform more generally.
